PlumpJack Group, a San Francisco–based lifestyle and hospitality company, has opened a new hotel in the ocean-adjacent village of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.
Formerly the Carmel Village Inn, The Getaway reopens as a boutique “modern beach” retreat that began welcoming guests in April, just ahead of the summer travel season. The design uses a coastal-inspired palette that nods to sand, sea and sunlight; whitewashed walls and soft finishes create a breezy, relaxed atmosphere throughout the property.
Renovations include 34 newly updated guestrooms, many featuring fireplaces and comfortable mattresses from Denver Mattress Co. Guest amenities include bath toiletries by Gilchrist & Soames. The hotel offers daily comforts like a deluxe continental breakfast with coffee from Carmel Coffee Roasters, and evening offerings such as a nightly sparkling wine hour with small bites. Outside, guests can unwind by the outdoor fire pit on cool coastal nights.
The Getaway complements Carmel-by-the-Sea’s storybook character, fitting seamlessly into this quaint waterfront town where a relaxed pace and seaside charm define the visitor experience.
