Global Traveler attended Qatar Airways’ unveiling of the new QSuite business-class cabin at ITB in Berlin last week. The global media gathered for the official presentation and press conference led by Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways.
The QSuite introduces a patented, flexible layout that adapts to different passenger needs. Two adjacent seats can convert into a double bed for couples, while four seats can be arranged into a private quad—ideal for business meetings or families dining together. The 1-2-1 seat configuration ensures aisle access for every passenger, and individual sliding doors provide enhanced privacy. Each suite includes a Do Not Disturb feature and the in-flight entertainment system offers more than 3,000 options with an improved, user-friendly interface.
At the press conference, Al Baker confirmed that the first QSuite service will begin in June on routes to London Heathrow, followed by Paris (CDG) and New York (JFK), Qatar Airways’ first North American destination to receive the product. The airline plans to retrofit its entire fleet of Airbus A350s and Boeing 777s with QSuites by mid-2018, and the A350-1000 will be the first aircraft delivered with the new cabin installed. Due to space limitations, Qatar Airways will apply modified versions of the QSuite design to its A380 and 787 aircraft.
