Knickerbocker Hotel Unveils NYC’s Most Spectacular Rooftop Bar

New York’s iconic Knickerbocker Hotel opens its new 7,800-square-foot rooftop bar and terrace, St. Cloud, on June 8, offering sweeping views of the city skyline and a refined atmosphere for guests and locals alike.

Inspired by the late 19th-century hotel that once stood on the same site, St. Cloud presents a seasonal small-plates menu and signature dishes created by acclaimed Chef Charlie Palmer. The rooftop also features a thoughtfully curated cocktail program, an assortment of craft bottled beers and a dedicated cigar lounge from respected tobacconist Nat Sherman.

“The original Knickerbocker Hotel hosted New York’s elite, from John D. Rockefeller to George M. Cohan and F. Scott Fitzgerald, and earned a reputation for lavish parties and unmatched nightlife,” said Jeff David, managing director of The Knickerbocker. “St. Cloud honors that legacy while delivering a contemporary rooftop bar experience at the crossroads of the world.”

First opened in 1906, the hotel occupies the southeast corner of 42nd Street overlooking Times Square, nestled between Broadway and Bryant Park. Designated a New York City Landmark in 1988, the restored property features 330 guest rooms, including 31 suites, a fitness center, a 2,200-square-foot event space accommodating up to 250 guests, a ground-level grab-and-go café, and a signature restaurant and bar.

St. Cloud aims to blend historical charm with modern hospitality, offering a relaxed yet sophisticated setting for daytime drinks, sunset gatherings and evening entertainment. With panoramic views across Manhattan, the rooftop provides a distinctive destination for visitors seeking both elevated cuisine and memorable city vistas.

The addition of St. Cloud reinforces The Knickerbocker’s role as a storied Midtown landmark that continues to evolve while preserving its architectural and cultural significance. Guests can expect attentive service, seasonal menus shaped by local ingredients, and a beverage program designed to complement the venue’s social and scenic appeal.

As part of the hotel’s comprehensive amenities, St. Cloud expands the property’s offerings for private and public events, adding a versatile outdoor space that can accommodate intimate receptions or larger social gatherings. Combined with the hotel’s existing event facilities and dining options, the rooftop helps position The Knickerbocker as a premier destination for both travelers and New Yorkers.
