One of IHG’s newer brands, voco, is coming to Sydney’s Central Business District with plans for voco Sydney Central to open by 2020. The hotel will occupy part of a mixed‑use, 17‑storey tower featuring a distinctive sloping roof and rooftop plantings described as “green waterfalls.”
More than 300 guestrooms are planned, each designed with high-quality bathrooms, intuitive in‑room technology and carefully considered lighting. The development will also include a guest gym and a design‑led restaurant and bar to serve both visitors and locals.
Located close to Capitol Theatre, major rail links and Sydney’s new convention centre, the property aims to offer convenient access to key city attractions and transport hubs.
“We are thrilled to bring the fifth voco to the iconic Sydney CBD landscape,” said Abhijay Sandilya, senior director of development, Australasia, IHG. “voco celebrates the individuality of each hotel, its stunning location and the local community. Every stay is tailored to deliver a unique and memorable experience for Sydneysiders, Australians and international guests. This signing continues the rapid growth of the voco brand since its launch in June 2018, building on openings such as voco Gold Coast, voco Yarra Valley, voco Kirkton Park and voco Melbourne Central.”
The new hotel adds to IHG’s expanding footprint in Australasia. The company currently operates nearly 50 hotels across four brands in the region, with almost 30 more projects in the development pipeline.
