Spirit Airlines Launches New Flights to St. Croix: Routes & Deals

Spirit Airlines is continuing to restore and expand its Caribbean network following the severe hurricane season last year.

Beginning at the end of May, Spirit will launch nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Henry E. Rohlsen Airport on St. Croix. Flights will operate three times weekly — on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays — marking the carrier’s 65th destination.

“Spirit is proud of its strong connection to the Caribbean, and we’re thrilled to bring more ultra-low fares to the U.S. Virgin Islands,” said Mark Kopczak, vice president of network planning at Spirit Airlines. “With this new service to St. Croix and our continuing resumption of service to the other islands impacted by last year’s hurricanes, we are excited to expand on our 12 years of service to the region and continue to deliver ultra-low fares for tourists and locals alike.”

The new St. Croix route is part of Spirit’s broader effort to help the U.S. Virgin Islands recover from the damage caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017. Those storms severely affected travel and transportation across the territory.

Governor Kenneth E. Mapp of the U.S. Virgin Islands welcomed the announcement, noting that the decision to restore service to St. Croix offers more travel options between the islands and the mainland and signals confidence in the territory’s ongoing recovery and economic progress.

Spirit has been steadily rebuilding its Caribbean schedule, reinstating service to destinations affected by last year’s storms and returning toward its previous service levels. The airline emphasizes its commitment to providing affordable travel for both visitors and residents as the region rebounds.

With the Fort Lauderdale–St. Croix flights, travelers can expect additional connectivity to the U.S. Virgin Islands, helping to support tourism, family connections and local commerce as infrastructure and services continue to improve across the islands.
