Swiss Delights: Must-Try Swiss Treats and Desserts Guide

Gourmets gather in St. Moritz, Switzerland, from January 26–30 for the St. Moritz Gourmet Festival, this year presented as a special British Edition. The festival pays tribute to the British visitors who helped establish St. Moritz as a premier alpine destination 150 years ago. Its ambitious program features more than 40 curated events that celebrate fine food, pastries, and exceptional wines across the region.

Notable highlights include Chocolate Cult in the Grand Hall of Badrutt’s Palace Hotel with chef-pâtissier Stefan Gerber; Illustrious Kitchen Whispering, a behind-the-scenes culinary experience with chef Jason Atherton in the kitchen of Hotel Schweizerhof; and Celestial Wines, a guided tasting with Jan Martel at Hotel Waldhaus in Sils-Maria. Each event is designed to combine local alpine charm with international gastronomic expertise.

The festival offers all-day activities on Corviglia mountain, where attendees can savor the Corviglia Caviar & Seafood Blizzard prepared by master chef Reto Mathis while enjoying sweeping views over the Engadin valley. The program culminates on Friday with the Great BMW Gourmet Finale at the Kulm Hotel, transformed for the evening into a temporary Buckingham Palace. That finale includes a cocktail reception followed by a gala dinner in a grand, themed setting.

Guest chefs participating in the festival represent a diverse mix of culinary styles and accolades: Angela Hartnett, Martin Burge, Isaac McHale, Nathan Outlaw, Chong Choi Fong, Claude Bosi, Atul Kochhar, and Virgilio Martinez. With so many standout events and limited seating for signature dinners and masterclasses, tickets typically sell quickly, so advance booking is recommended.

Across the festival, visitors will find a balance of intimate tasting sessions, large-scale gala events, and hands-on encounters with top chefs and winemakers. The British Edition highlights the historic link between the region and British visitors while showcasing contemporary global cuisine, making it a must-attend for food lovers and travelers seeking a refined alpine culinary experience.
