Emirates Expands A380 Routes Across Global Network

Emirates is expanding its Airbus A380 network by introducing a second daily A380 service to Mauritius later this year. Beginning Dec. 1, the new service, operating as flight EK 703/704, will replace the current Boeing 777 on that rotation. This aircraft upgrade increases Emirates’ capacity between Dubai International Airport and Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport by 19 percent, enabling an additional 165 passengers per day to travel to the Indian Ocean island.

“Our daily A380 service to Mauritius has been extremely popular since its launch on Dec. 16, 2013,” said Orhan Abbas, senior vice president of commercial operations for Latin America, Central and Southern Africa at Emirates. “More than 150,000 passengers have flown our flagship aircraft to the island during this time.”

With this change, Emirates will be the first airline to operate A380 aircraft to a destination in the Indian Ocean. The carrier currently flies 39 A380s to 26 destinations worldwide, more than any other airline.
