The new InterContinental Lyon – Hotel Dieu will open in June following an extensive renovation of the historic hospital that operated on this site for more than 800 years until 2010.
Facing the river, the building features a long, elegant façade capped by the Soufflot Dome, which now forms the centerpiece of the hotel. The conversion involved more than 800 skilled artisans and resulted in 104 guest rooms and 35 suites, many offering river views. The presidential suite is the largest in Lyon, France’s third-largest city and a destination renowned for its gastronomy and cultural heritage.
Dining options include a bar, Le Dôme, and a signature restaurant, Épona, named for the patron saint associated with travel. Épona highlights classic Lyonnaise cuisine and local specialties such as the region’s famous dumplings, known as quenelles.
For business and social gatherings, the hotel provides dedicated meeting and event spaces. Leisure facilities include a spa and a 24-hour fitness center equipped with a hammam, sauna, steam room and a program of fitness classes.
This property marks the sixth InterContinental hotel to open in France, combining historic architecture with contemporary luxury and amenities suited to both leisure and business travelers.
