British Airways Opens New Aberdeen Lounge: What Travelers Need to Know

British Airways has opened a new lounge at Aberdeen (ABZ), replacing the facility that closed last summer as part of a wider redevelopment at the airport. This is the airline’s second location to feature its new lounge design, following the rollout at Rome Fiumicino.

The Aberdeen lounge covers 380 square meters and is arranged into distinct zones to suit different needs. Quick-access areas provide easy access to food and restrooms, while more relaxed seating areas offer views over the runway for guests staying longer.

At the heart of the lounge sits a large granite-topped bar, a prominent feature shared with the Rome lounge. The interior includes locally inspired artwork from the airline’s collection, such as “The Long Winding Shores” by Maddie Rose Hills, which draws on scenery around Kinlochewe in the Scottish Highlands.

Sarah Klatt-Walsh, Head of Product at British Airways, said the lounge opening forms part of the carrier’s broader £4.5bn investment programme. She explained the new concept aims to make better use of space while retaining a contemporary, luxurious feel. The design also prioritizes technology, offering complimentary WiFi and ample USB and power points so customers can work, browse and charge devices comfortably.

Klatt-Walsh added that feedback from the Rome lounge has been positive, and the airline expects travellers passing through Aberdeen will appreciate the new look and amenities.
