Delta Introduces Plant-Based Menu Options for In-Flight Dining

Delta Air Lines is expanding its vegetarian and plant-based offerings with a new lineup of dishes featuring Impossible Foods, Black Sheep Foods and locally grown vegetables. The new meals coincide with the return of hot meal service for Delta One and first-class customers on select flights of 900 miles or longer, launching this month.

Dr. Henry Ting, Delta’s chief health officer, said the airline has taken a thoughtful approach to onboard dining: “We’ve taken a careful approach to ensuring each customer feels taken care of during their journey on Delta because connecting the world also means caring for those in it — and helping them feel their best no matter where they are.”

Menu highlights include a green chili spice-rubbed Impossible Burger topped with caramelized onion jam and Manchego cheese, Black Sheep Foods’ lamb-style meatballs served with spinach rice and feta, and cauliflower cakes paired with creamy pesto orzo. These selections are part of Delta’s effort to offer satisfying, flavorful plant-based options that appeal to a range of dietary preferences.

Beyond main courses, Delta has broadened its snack and lounge offerings. Kate’s Real Food bars—USDA Certified Organic and made from whole-food ingredients—are now available in all cabins. In select Delta Sky Clubs, the Fresh Farm program showcases handcrafted, regionally produced food and beverage items from local artisans, emphasizing fresh and locally sourced products.

Delta is also expanding partnerships that connect travel with members’ everyday routines. An arrangement with Instacart enables SkyMiles members to earn miles when they grocery shop from the airplane or at home. Through a collaboration with Peloton, Delta Studio on seatback screens now offers instructor-led stretching and meditation classes that run from five to 20 minutes, making it easier for travelers to move and relax during a flight.

To support in-flight relaxation, Delta has partnered with Spotify to deliver curated audio content on Delta Studio. Playlists such as “Relax and Unwind,” “Peaceful Piano,” “Sleep” and “Deep Focus” are available to help passengers find calm, concentrate or rest while traveling.

These updates reflect Delta’s broader focus on enhancing the passenger experience by offering more dietary choices, partnering with well-known health and wellness brands, and promoting local food producers through its onboard and lounge services.
