Beginning April 15, passengers flying JAL’s Sky Suite 777 (Boeing 777-300ER) will see a new system for ordering in-flight meals and duty-free items.
Japan Airlines has upgraded the in-flight entertainment systems in both business and economy class to allow orders directly from the personal video displays at each seat. The service, called Anytime You Wish, is accessed through the seat’s liquid crystal touch-panel control.
The new ordering feature is designed to simplify purchases and reduce wait times, giving passengers more control over their experience. Instead of waiting for a flight attendant’s rounds, travelers can browse meal options, request snacks or beverages, and select duty-free goods whenever it suits them. The interface displays item images, descriptions and prices so passengers can make informed choices before confirming an order.
On long-haul routes where Sky Suite 777 operates, the Anytime You Wish service aims to enhance convenience by operating throughout most stages of the flight. The system is integrated with the cabin service workflow so crew members receive and process orders efficiently. This reduces the need for callers or multiple manual requests and helps cabin crew manage inventory and timing more effectively.
For frequent flyers and passengers who prefer minimal interaction, the touch-panel ordering option provides a discreet way to request meals or shop duty-free without interrupting rest or work. Families and groups flying together can place separate orders from their individual screens, eliminating confusion and ensuring each traveler gets exactly what they ordered.
The upgrade also supports operational consistency across the fleet’s Sky Suite 777 cabins. Because the ordering process is standardized through the entertainment system, it helps maintain service levels even during busy periods. Crew can prioritize preparation and delivery based on order timestamps and cabin location, which helps keep service smooth and predictable.
Passengers unfamiliar with the system can still request assistance from cabin crew, and traditional service rounds will continue to operate as needed. Safety procedures and crew interventions remain unchanged; the ordering tool is an added convenience rather than a replacement for in-person service.
As airlines continue to adopt technology that enhances passenger comfort and convenience, initiatives like Anytime You Wish represent a move toward self-service options that respect individual schedules and preferences. For travelers on JAL’s Sky Suite 777, the new functionality reduces friction in making purchases and supports a more personalized in-flight experience.
