Part of The Meliá Collection, the hotel sits in Madrid’s literary quarter, Barrio de las Letras, in the historic city center. Its name — “House of the Arts” — reflects a strong link to the capital’s artistic and literary heritage.

Casa de las Artes offers a range of curated cultural spaces. A private cinema room, inspired by the mid-century Hollywood screening rooms of the 1950s, provides a cozy setting for films and special presentations. The on-site library invites guests to relax among carefully chosen volumes in a peaceful atmosphere. Wellness facilities include a thermal pool and a fitness center equipped with a ballet barre, celebrating the grace of dance. Programmed experiences span live music, film, dance, literary events and culinary moments that honor the seven fine arts: painting, architecture, music, literature, dance, sculpture and poetry.

The hotel has two entrances: the main access on Atocha Street and a secondary entrance on Moratín Street, which provides a convenient route toward the Museo del Prado. Its privileged location places it inside Madrid’s “Art Triangle,” with the Thyssen-Bornemisza and Reina Sofía museums within easy walking distance.

Next door stands the Cervantes Society building, where the first edition of Don Quixote de la Mancha and other Golden Age works were once printed, giving the area exceptional literary significance. Nearby Santa Isabel Street offers notable local character, with the Art Deco Cine Doré, lively tabernas, bakeries, cafés and independent bookshops just steps away.

The interiors were designed by architect Álvaro Sans and designer Adriana Sans of Mallorca-based ASAH Studio, which led the conversion of four heritage-protected buildings into the hotel. The complex is anchored by a palatial main block designed by Ricardo García Guereta and José María Otamendi and built in 1913.

Furnishings were chosen for their timeless quality and harmony with the architecture, including pieces from Andreu World, Sancal, Pedrali, Kettal and Santa & Cole. ASAH Studio also designed custom furniture and details for the hotel, using materials such as walnut, Marquina marble, brass and rich velvet to create a refined, warm atmosphere throughout public areas and guest rooms.

Art plays an integral role in the hotel’s identity. The reception displays original Don Quixote lithographs by Salvador Dalí, while sculptural works appear across the property. Notably, a collection of miniature meninas by Miguel Guía greets visitors at reception, reinforcing the hotel’s dialogue with Spain’s artistic traditions.

Gastronomy is central to the guest experience. MACHÉ, the hotel’s restaurant named with a nod to the visual arts, complements the cultural program with cuisine designed to match the hotel’s artistic sensibility, offering thoughtfully prepared dishes that reflect both local tradition and contemporary flavor.

Casa de las Artes is positioned to be more than a place to stay: it is a cultural hub where design, art, literature, music and food converge, giving visitors an immersive Madrid experience rooted in history and creative expression.
