Spring Festivals in Vancouver: What to See and Where to Go

Vancouver ushers in spring with a lively lineup of events. On April 19 the city hosts the annual Sun Run, Canada’s largest 10K road race. Over 45,000 runners and walkers travel through the downtown core and finish near B.C. Place Stadium, creating an energetic atmosphere that signals the start of the season.

From April 19–24, Eco Fashion Week showcases sustainable design and ethical fashion. Designers and brands focused on eco-friendly materials and practices present runway shows, participate in seminars, and attend style-focused events that highlight the intersection of creativity, innovation and environmental responsibility.

Following that, from April 26 to May 3 the 2015 EAT! Vancouver Food & Cooking Festival returns for its 13th edition with a packed program of culinary experiences. The festival includes a three-day tasting exhibition at B.C. Place Stadium and about 35 events featuring hands-on workshops, collaborative chef dinners, and panels. Top chefs, food producers and restaurateurs from across North America come together for the Canadian Flavours Gala and the Hospitality Symposium, offering both tasting opportunities and professional conversation.

In the second week of May the 9th annual Spot Prawn Festival, organized by the Chefs’ Table Society of B.C., takes place at Fisherman’s Wharf in False Creek. The festival celebrates the short spot prawn season with cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, local wines and a traditional spot prawn boil. It’s a showcase of local seafood and community culinary culture, drawing food lovers keen to taste regional flavours and meet the chefs behind them.
