Housed in a building dating from the 1930s, the hotel preserves the character of a colonial mansion influenced by Sir Herbert Baker, whose work helped define Johannesburg’s early residential architecture. The restoration retained original architectural elements while introducing contemporary comforts. A central open-air courtyard, shaded by a jacaranda tree, anchors the property alongside sculpted gardens and a heated outdoor pool, creating a serene urban retreat. The hotel also showcases a locally curated art and design program that celebrates South African creativity and craft.

The property offers 31 guestrooms and suites, each featuring king-sized beds and floor-to-ceiling windows. A selection of rooms includes private patios for outdoor relaxation. Interior art themes draw inspiration from South Africa’s varied landscapes and ecosystems, with motifs such as Sea Algae, Trees, Safari, Forest, Explorer and Leaves woven into the design to reflect the country’s rich natural diversity.

Dining at the hotel centers on Room 32, a restaurant featuring dishes prepared over live-fire grills and focused on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. The Lounge provides an elegant environment for cocktails, fine wine and premium cigars. A spa is planned to open soon, and the hotel includes versatile event space suitable for gatherings of up to 60 guests, making it well suited for intimate meetings, private dinners and special celebrations.

Located in Rosebank, Park Hyatt Johannesburg combines a historic setting with contemporary luxury, offering personalized service, thoughtful design and a calm refuge within one of the city’s most vibrant districts. The hotel’s restoration and local art program emphasize a connection to place, while its dining and amenities cater to guests seeking refined, modern hospitality in Johannesburg.
