Qatar Airways has announced it will expand its network to Ethiopia, launching new flights between Doha (DOH) and Addis Ababa (ADD) beginning September 18. The carrier will operate three weekly services using Airbus A320 aircraft configured with 12 business class seats and 132 economy seats.
“Ethiopia is quickly becoming an important economic hub with growing trade links to Europe, the United States and the Asia-Pacific region,” said Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways. “Adding scheduled flights to Addis Ababa strengthens our presence in Africa and supports continued growth of our business across the continent.”
Addis Ababa marks Qatar Airways’ 20th destination in Africa. Over the past two years the airline has expanded its African network to include Benghazi, Libya (BEN); Entebbe, Uganda (EBB); Kigali, Rwanda (KGL); Tripoli, Libya (TIP); Kilimanjaro, Tanzania (JRO); and Maputo, Mozambique (MPM).
These additions reflect Qatar Airways’ broader strategy to increase connectivity between Africa and global markets, offering more options for business travelers and tourists alike. The new Doha–Addis Ababa link will support trade and tourism flows, while providing improved connections from Ethiopia to Qatar Airways’ global network.
