LAX Completes Biggest Airline Relocation in Airport History

Travelers passing through Los Angeles International Airport from May 12–16 witnessed a major airline relocation effort: a coordinated shift of carriers to new terminals and ticketing areas. The initiative, known as LAX on the Move, was one of the largest terminal realignments in airport history.

During the five-day operation, roughly one-third of the airlines at LAX moved their operations to different terminals. In preparation, airport officials urged passengers to plan ahead by checking in online, saving or printing boarding passes before leaving home, and verifying gate assignments prior to arriving at the airport. To reduce stress, travelers were also advised to allow extra time for check-in and security.

The centerpiece of the realignment was Delta Air Lines’ move into Terminals 2 and 3, with new connections established to the Tom Bradley International Terminal. To assist passengers, Delta staff wearing bright green vests were stationed throughout the affected areas to answer questions and guide travelers. Shuttle service in green buses ran between Terminals 2 and 3 and Terminals 5 and 6 to make transfers easier during the transition.

All terminal changes were implemented after the final flights of each day to minimize disruption to airline operations and passenger travel.
