The new Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel has introduced a digital platform called the Discovery Portal, developed in partnership with Time Out New York to help guests discover the best of the city. The Discovery Portal presents a continuously updated collection of curated recommendations for restaurants, events, shopping, shows and nearby neighborhoods. Designed as a large interactive touchscreen located between the 34th and 35th Street entrances, it aims to handle everyday requests that previously would have required a traditional concierge.
The Portal’s content is tailored to highlight both neighborhood favorites and notable happenings across the city, making it easy for guests to find options that match their interests and schedules. Whether visitors are looking for a late-night bite, a cultural event, or the best local shopping streets, the Discovery Portal provides up-to-date suggestions and practical details.
For requests that require specialized knowledge or personalized arrangements—such as custom itineraries, hard-to-get reservations, or unique local experiences—the hotel’s concierge team, known as Navigators, remains available to assist. The Discovery Portal complements the Navigator program by offering immediate, self-service discovery tools while allowing staff to dedicate more time to complex guest needs.
