Southwest Airlines Launches New Washington, D.C. to Orlando Flights

Southwest Airlines is expanding its route network with new nonstop service between Washington, D.C. (Reagan National, DCA) and Orlando (MCO). The service will begin on Nov. 1 and marks Orlando as Southwest’s third Florida destination served nonstop from DCA and the airline’s 17th nonstop route from that airport. Also effective Nov. 1, Southwest will increase frequency on its Austin (AUS) route to twice-daily service.

Promotional one-way fares start as low as $59 when purchased by May 24 at 11:59 p.m. in the originating city’s time zone. Travel is valid Nov. 1 through Dec. 16. Blackout dates and other restrictions may apply, so passengers should review fare rules at time of purchase.

With the addition of Orlando nonstop from DCA, Southwest strengthens its Florida footprint. The carrier’s Florida gateways now include Fort Myers (RSW), Jacksonville (JAX), Orlando (MCO), Tampa Bay (TPA), Panama City Beach (ECP), Pensacola (PNS) and West Palm Beach (PBI). These routes provide a variety of options for both leisure and business travelers seeking convenient nonstop service between the Washington, D.C. area and popular Florida destinations.

Passengers flying the new DCA–MCO nonstop can expect Southwest’s standard amenities, including two free checked bags per passenger on qualifying fare types and no change fees, subject to ticketing terms. Travelers should confirm schedules and baggage policies when booking, as specific aircraft operations and seat availability can vary by date.

This schedule expansion reflects continued demand for travel between the Mid-Atlantic and Florida markets, particularly during the fall and holiday travel periods. By increasing frequency on the Austin route and launching the DCA–MCO nonstop, Southwest aims to offer greater flexibility and more options for travelers planning short weekend trips, family vacations, or business travel.

Customers interested in the introductory fares and new schedules should book soon and verify travel dates and restrictions prior to purchase. Fare availability is limited and blackout dates apply.
