Stay Connected: Simple Ways to Build Stronger Relationships

With the opening of its newest terminal, the PHX Sky Train station at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport now links the Valley Metro Rail system with Sky Harbor’s East Economy Parking and all three airport terminals. Terminal 3 connects to Terminal 2 via a pedestrian walkway; the airport does not have a Terminal 1.

“All of Sky Harbor’s passengers may now enjoy an easy connection with public transportation, and a convenient ride between the Airport and downtown Phoenix,” said Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton. This improved transit access is especially valuable for large events and everyday travel, reducing the need to drive to the terminals and easing congestion around the airport.

The Terminal 3 station on the PHX Sky Train has earned Silver LEED certification for its sustainable design features. The PHX Sky Train runs seven days a week, 365 days a year, and is free for customers, providing continuous, no-cost transfers between rail, parking, and terminals. Travelers can expect frequent departures, straightforward wayfinding, and accessible boarding for luggage, strollers, and mobility devices.

By connecting regional rail directly to airport terminals and economy parking, the PHX Sky Train enhances the overall passenger experience. Commuters and visitors benefit from a reliable, climate-controlled link that shortens transfer times and reduces dependence on personal vehicles and shuttle buses. The streamlined connection also supports downtown Phoenix by making it easier for travelers to reach the city center without renting a car.

Beyond convenience, the integration of the Sky Train with Valley Metro Rail encourages more sustainable travel patterns. Passengers can combine light rail and airport transit for a cost-effective, environmentally friendly journey. The free, frequent service makes public transportation a practical alternative for solo travelers, families, and groups heading to or from the airport.

Operational throughout the year, the PHX Sky Train accommodates early-morning departures and late-night arrivals, serving business travelers, tourists, and residents alike. The system’s design focuses on passenger flow, safety, and comfort, and its connections to parking and transit simplify trip planning. Whether accessing long-term parking or transferring from downtown, passengers now have a dependable, continuous transit option.

Overall, the addition of the Terminal 3 Sky Train station strengthens Phoenix Sky Harbor’s role as a regional transportation hub by offering seamless connections, sustainable design, and free service that supports both visitors and the local community.
