Renaissance Launches Discovery Portal for Educators and Students

The Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel has introduced a new digital guide called the Discovery Portal, developed in partnership with Time Out New York to help guests discover the best of the city. This interactive platform offers an evolving selection of curated recommendations for restaurants, events, shopping, shows and nearby neighborhoods, making it easy for visitors to explore current highlights across Manhattan.

Positioned between the 34th and 35th Street entrances, the Discovery Portal appears as a large touch-screen display designed for intuitive use. It is intended to handle everyday requests that previously would have gone to a traditional concierge, allowing guests to quickly find up-to-date listings, reviews and neighborhood tips. For more specialized or personalized needs, the hotel’s concierge team—known as Navigators—remains available to provide tailored assistance and insider suggestions.

“Renaissance guests have a hearty appetite for the curious, unique and unexpected,” said David DiFalco, general manager of the Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel. “Our partnership with Time Out New York strengthens our Navigator program and ensures visitors are inspired both by the neighborhood around the hotel and by what’s happening across the city at any given moment.”

The Discovery Portal aims to combine local expertise with digital convenience: dynamic content from Time Out New York keeps recommendations fresh, while the hotel’s Navigators offer human insights when guests seek deeper or more bespoke experiences. This mixed approach supports independent exploration while preserving the personalized service travelers expect from a full-service property.

Guests can use the touchscreen to browse curated lists, discover upcoming events and learn about nearby shopping and dining options. The platform’s rotating selections highlight seasonal events and timely neighborhood news, helping travelers plan evenings out, weekend activities or quick stops between meetings. By centralizing this information in one visible, easy-to-use location near the hotel’s main entrances, the property aims to simplify trip planning and enrich guests’ stays.

The hotel’s emphasis on blending technology with personal service reflects a broader hospitality trend: digital tools that streamline common requests, paired with staff expertise for complex or unique itineraries. With the Discovery Portal, Renaissance New York Midtown seeks to offer both—immediate access to vetted recommendations plus the option to consult Navigators for more nuanced guidance.
