Etihad Reveals Major Overhaul to Economy Class Service

Last month, Etihad Airways introduced its refreshed economy-class service with a light and sound presentation on Dubai’s Burj Khalifa.

The upgrades apply to the airline’s Airbus A320 and A321 fleets and focus on improved dining, seating and in-flight entertainment. For flights longer than three hours, economy passengers will be offered a larger main course that emphasizes seasonal ingredients and flavors tied to destinations. The refreshed dining approach uses base plates made from recycled materials and lighter cutlery to help reduce aircraft weight and fuel consumption. As part of its sustainability efforts, the airline also plans to eliminate 27 million plastic lids from service each year, continuing its commitment to cut single-use plastics.

Seating has been upgraded with Acro-designed “extra-spatial” seats across the economy cabin, delivering more comfort and improved ergonomics for every passenger.

In-flight entertainment has been revamped as well. Passengers can stream more than 300 hours of complimentary content directly to their personal wireless devices using Etihad’s onboard streaming platform, giving travelers a broader choice of movies, shows and other entertainment without needing built-in seat-back screens.

Together, these enhancements aim to elevate the overall economy experience by combining improved comfort, more thoughtful dining and greener practices with a modern, device-friendly entertainment offering.
