As in-room technology becomes standard—from voice assistants and free WiFi to streaming services—Freepoint Hotel in Cambridge is taking the guest experience further with an industry-first partnership with RadioPublic.
This collaboration bridges hospitality and audio content, offering hotel guests curated podcast programming tailored to travelers’ interests. RadioPublic, a Boston-based mobile app and listening platform for on-demand podcasts, will power the Freepoint Hotel channel with playlists and recommendations designed specifically for visitors.
Podcast listening has surged nationwide, and Freepoint recognized the opportunity to enhance stays with thoughtfully chosen audio. The service features a range of handpicked episodes and themed playlists. “Boston Like a Local” highlights regional sports, culture and history; food-focused lists, selected with input from Freepoint’s Executive Chef Matthew Gaudet, explore the local culinary scene; fitness-minded travelers can follow the “Work It Out” channel with shows to accompany workouts or runs around Cambridge; and anyone seeking relaxation can choose the “Wind It Down” channel with calming programs to play before sleep.
Access is simple and guest-friendly. Upon check-in, visitors receive a link on their smartphones that directs them to the Freepoint Hotel channel in the RadioPublic app, allowing them to download episodes and listen anytime during their stay. In addition to personal listening, the hotel provides mounted devices in the lobby where guests can borrow headphones, take a seat and enjoy selected podcasts on site.
“Podcasts are a great way for curious people to experience the world,” said Jake Shapiro, CEO of RadioPublic. “The Freepoint Channel on RadioPublic is a wonderful travel companion—informative, inspiring and entertaining.”
The channel will be updated regularly with new episodes and fresh playlists, giving returning guests new listening options on subsequent visits and helping Freepoint strengthen its reputation for thoughtful, tech-forward hospitality.
