Spier Hotel Opens This Spring in South Africa’s Western Cape

Lauded for its exceptional wines and regenerative farming, Spier Wine Farm in South Africa’s Western Cape is preparing to welcome guests to its newly opened hotel this spring, with a planned opening in March. Owned by the Enthoven family, the estate sits within the protected Cape Floral Kingdom, a globally significant biodiversity hotspot.

“The farm and hotel are an immersive place of peace and connection,” said Mariota Enthoven, hotel specialist at Spier Wine Farm. “Simple and timeless, with an elegance of comfort that never shouts. Set in a magnificent wild Cape garden, it will be an intimate farm hotel and an authentic expression of our family’s philosophy.”

Reflecting the estate’s commitment to nature and wellbeing, the hotel features a wellness spa and a Cape Herbal Bath House set among gardens of healing botanicals and medicinal plants. Many of these botanicals are wild-harvested and incorporated into spa therapies and a proprietary product line. The spa comprises 10 treatment rooms, a mindful movement studio and a private pool, offering guests restorative and nature-focused experiences.

Located roughly half an hour from Cape Town International Airport, the property is conceived as a private village. The hotel includes 80 luxury guestrooms and suites, two restaurants emphasizing farm-to-table cuisine, and three bars, one of which is a rooftop sundowner bar ideal for evening views. Later this year, two private three-bedroom villas will be added to expand the accommodation options.

Art is a notable feature throughout the property: Spier displays a curated collection of 3,600 contemporary South African works assembled by Spier Arts Trust, enhancing the sense of place and supporting local creativity.

This transformation highlights the region’s leadership in authentic, forward-thinking tourism experiences.”
