Castello di Vicarello, a 12th-century castle set in the rolling hills of Tuscany’s Maremma, has unveiled Villa La Vedetta. Once the castle’s historic watchtower, Villa La Vedetta is now the estate’s first independent villa, thoughtfully restored to combine heritage details with contemporary comfort.

The transformation took 18 months and brought together local artisans and traditional techniques to realize the vision of the Bacchesschi Berti family. The two-bedroom villa preserves and highlights original features — hand-carved window frames and doors, Marmorino plaster walls, French oak parquet, authentic terracotta and stone flooring — alongside striking black-and-white checkered marble accents.

From the villa, guests enjoy sweeping views over the castle and its vineyards. The accommodation includes two generous suites, each with an en-suite bathroom appointed with freestanding copper bathtubs. The ground floor is open plan, centered on a large fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen, and opens directly onto a private garden, creating an easy flow between indoor and outdoor living.

Outside, the villa is surrounded by secluded gardens and features a heated private swimming pool and a rooftop terrace that offers panoramic views of the estate. Guests may opt for an in-villa chef to prepare bespoke meals and benefit from full access to Castello di Vicarello’s award-winning facilities and curated experiences, including wine tastings and guided tours of the property.
Villa La Vedetta blends historic character with modern amenities, making it an intimate base for exploring the Maremma countryside, enjoying local cuisine, and experiencing the quiet elegance of a restored medieval estate.
