Moxy Hotels Expands in Europe with Five New Properties

Marriott International is expanding its Moxy Hotels portfolio in Europe with five new properties scheduled to open over the next year. The new hotels will be located in Munich, Eschborn and Berlin in Germany; Oslo in Norway; and Aberdeen in the United Kingdom. These openings follow two U.S. Moxy launches planned for 2016 in Tempe, Arizona and New Orleans. Marriott’s long-term objective is to grow the Moxy brand to 150 hotels within the next decade.

Amy McPherson, president and managing director of Marriott International Europe, said the brand is entering a new phase of development. She noted that since Moxy Milan introduced the concept—bringing an affordable, stylish and playful hospitality experience to market—the brand has continued to gain momentum. The upcoming openings bring that experience to more major European cities and mark the next stage in Moxy’s European expansion.

The new properties and their anticipated opening months and room counts are:

  • Moxy Munich Airport — opening this month with 252 guestrooms.
  • Moxy Eschborn — opening in July with 176 guestrooms.
  • Moxy Berlin Ostbahnhof — a city-center location opening in October with 210 guestrooms.
  • Moxy Oslo Exporama — opening in November at the Exporama Exhibition and Conference Centre with 276 guestrooms.
  • Moxy Aberdeen Airport — opening in December with 200 guestrooms.

These launches are part of Marriott’s broader strategy to extend the Moxy brand across key urban and airport locations, offering travelers budget-friendly accommodations with contemporary, design-led amenities and lively public spaces. With a pipeline that includes planned openings both in Europe and the United States, Marriott aims to make Moxy a recognizable option for guests seeking affordable style and social, modern hotel environments.
