Rockefeller Center Ice Rink Reopens for the Season in NYC

The iconic ice rink at Rockefeller Center in New York City officially opens this week. The opening ceremony showcased performances by Olympic ice-dancing champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White, along with young skaters from Ice Theatre of New York and Figure Skating in Harlem.

Built in 1936, the Rink at Rockefeller Center welcomes more than a quarter million skaters each year and remains a cherished winter tradition in the city. This season’s lineup includes Breakfast with Santa, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Engagement on Ice, First Skate, and a new late-night option called Starlight Skate.

The rink operates daily with 90-minute sessions beginning at 8:30 a.m. and concluding at midnight. Lines frequently form, so early-morning arrival is advised for general admission. Reservations are available for those who prefer to skip the wait.

Skaters may bring their own skates, though speed skates are prohibited. Figure skates are available for rent on site. New skaters can arrange lessons for a fee, while regular skaters can opt for a season pass.
