The Strand Cruise has opened its cruising season with a new à la carte shore-excursion program that lets guests personalize their time in Myanmar. The 28-cabin vessel operates three- and four-night itineraries between Bagan and Mandalay, offering curated onshore experiences that showcase the region’s cultural highlights.
Onboard guests can choose from a variety of guided outings, including visits to the Mingun and Sagaing pagodas, the historic Maha Aungmye Bonzan temple, and the famous U-Bein Bridge. The Strand Cruise is currently the only operator on the Ayeyarwady River to offer an à la carte menu of excursions, enabling travelers to tailor their schedule and select the sites they most want to see.
Passengers coordinate their choices with the onboard team, which advises on the optimal time of day for each visit and provides a car and driver with an English-speaking guide for shore transfers. This personalized approach ensures that excursions fit each guest’s interests and travel rhythm.
Launched in December 2015 as a contemporary reimagining of the iconic Strand Yangon, the vessel was designed with modern comforts and technology. Amenities include individually controlled air conditioning, satellite WiFi, and up-to-date marine systems to ensure a comfortable and connected voyage.
Pricing for the three-night itinerary starts from $1,782 per person based on double occupancy, while the four-night journey begins at $1,976. Published rates include the set excursions and activities; three meals on full sailing days and breakfast on the day of disembarkation; soft drinks, local beer and house wine during meals; port charges; English-speaking guides; and satellite WiFi.
