American Express has announced the locations for its next two Centurion Lounges. The first will open at London Heathrow Airport next year, marking the brand’s debut in Europe and the second location outside the United States. The second lounge is scheduled to open at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in 2020.
“Both in business and their personal lives, our Platinum card members are living more globally, and we are committed to meeting them wherever they go. London has long been a top destination for our Platinum Card members, so it makes perfect sense to bring our first Centurion Lounge in Europe to Heathrow,” said Chris Cracchiolo, senior vice president of global loyalty and benefits at American Express. “We’re also looking forward to bringing The Centurion Lounge to Charlotte Douglas International Airport, which is one of the biggest connecting hubs in the United States.”
The Heathrow Centurion Lounge will be located in Terminal 3 and will feature the signature amenities Platinum cardholders expect, with design touches inspired by British culture. Ahead of the lounge opening, American Express will host a Centurion Lounge pop-up in London’s Covent Garden from Dec. 13–16, open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors to the pop-up can sample complimentary drinks and snacks, take advantage of gift wrapping services, use charging stations, and preview other lounge offerings.
The Charlotte Douglas Centurion Lounge will be part of the airport’s expansion between Concourses D and E. At roughly 13,000 square feet, it will rank among the larger spaces in the Centurion network, designed to serve travelers using one of the country’s busiest airports.
“We are excited to welcome The Centurion Lounge to Charlotte Douglas International Airport in 2020,” said Ted Kaplan, director of business and revenue at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. “As the sixth-busiest airport in the country, we are constantly seeking ways to improve the customer experience. The opening of the Centurion Lounge will provide Platinum and Centurion members among our 46 million annual passengers with a premier space to relax and enjoy views of the airport before continuing to their next destination.”
Access to Centurion Lounges is complimentary and exclusive to American Express Platinum cardholders and Centurion members.
