Delta Adds Rioja Wines to In-Flight Wine Selection

Delta Air Lines customers can now enjoy wines from Spain’s celebrated Rioja region thanks to a new national partnership between Delta and Wines from Rioja. The collaboration brings carefully selected Rioja wines on board Delta flights and into Delta Sky Clubs, accompanied by guided tastings that showcase the character and heritage of this storied wine region.

“We are excited to partner with Wines from Rioja. Offering our customers the ultimate travel experience is our top priority,” said Brian Berry, director of onboard services for Delta Air Lines. “We’re delighted to kick off this partnership by giving our customers access to some of the greatest wines in the world, chosen by our Delta master sommelier Andrea Robinson.”

Through July, passengers can sample select Rioja Reserva and Gran Reserva wines in a variety of styles during flights. Delta Sky Club members will find by-the-glass Rioja selections in Delta’s flagship Sky Clubs across the country, and some locations will host pop-up tastings to provide a more immersive experience.

Rioja is renowned for its age-worthy red wines, typically made from Tempranillo and blended with other local varieties. Reserva and Gran Reserva classifications indicate extended aging in oak and bottle, offering richer texture, integrated tannins, and layered flavors that range from ripe red fruit to spice and leather with floral and earthy notes. These characteristics make Rioja reds versatile companions for a range of in-flight meal options, adding a refined touch to the travel experience.

The partnership emphasizes curated offerings selected by Delta’s in-house sommeliers to ensure consistency and quality. Onboard presentations and Sky Club tastings aim to educate and entertain travelers, highlighting Rioja’s winemaking traditions, regional diversity, and recommended pairings. Whether passengers are wine enthusiasts or casual sippers, the program is designed to make discovering Rioja approachable and enjoyable.

Incorporating Rioja into Delta’s beverage program aligns with broader trends in premium travel services that focus on authentic, destination-driven experiences. By introducing passengers to one of Spain’s most respected wine regions, Delta adds cultural interest and tasting variety to its hospitality suite, enhancing the overall journey for those flying domestic and international routes.

Delta customers interested in exploring Rioja wines during their travel should look for wine listings on in-flight menus and inquire at Delta Sky Clubs about current selections and tasting events. The partnership runs through July and provides an opportunity to taste Reserva and Gran Reserva examples that represent the depth and tradition of Rioja winemaking.
