Responding to strong demand, Qatar Airways has advanced the launch of its Airbus A380 service between Doha (DOH) and Bangkok (BKK). Originally scheduled for January 2015, the service will now begin on December 5. The decision follows the notable success of Qatar’s initial A380 routes to London (LHR) and Paris (CDG).
“Bangkok remains an increasingly popular destination for holidaymakers,” said Akbar Al Baker, group CEO of Qatar Airways Group. “We have also recently introduced the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the Phuket route, deploying two of our newest aircraft types on these busy routes.”
The airline’s A380 is configured in three classes—first, business and economy—and offers a total of 517 seats. First class occupies eight private seats on the upper deck in a 1-2-1 layout. Each seat converts to a fully flat 90-inch bed, includes a 26-inch HD in-flight entertainment screen and provides direct aisle access. First-class passengers also benefit from spacious, spa-like bathrooms and premium amenities designed for comfort and relaxation during long flights.
Business class on the Qatar Airways A380 is located on the upper deck and features 48 seats in a 1-2-1 arrangement. Each seat becomes an 80-inch fully flat bed, offers a 17-inch HD in-flight entertainment screen and grants direct aisle access. Economy class is divided into two cabins: an upper-deck economy section with 56 seats in a 2-4-2 configuration, and a main-deck economy cabin with 405 seats in a 3-4-3 layout. The upper deck also includes a generous in-flight lounge for premium passengers, offering a comfortable space to socialize or relax between meals and entertainment.
