Opening soon is a new luxury property from The Peninsula Hotels at one of London’s most prestigious addresses. Designed by British-based Hopkins Architects, the new building will replace the existing offices at 1–5 Grosvenor Place in Belgravia, in the West End of London.
The development will introduce the 190-room Peninsula London, a mixed-use scheme that combines refined hospitality and elegant residences. The hotel will include a selection of shops, bars and restaurants, a grand ballroom, and dedicated leisure and spa facilities. In addition, the project features 24–28 private apartments with their own separate reception and entrance, ensuring privacy and exclusive access for residents.
Peninsula Hotels is known for its collection of iconic properties around the world. The group’s portfolio includes The Peninsula Hong Kong, The Peninsula Shanghai, The Peninsula Beijing, The Peninsula Tokyo, The Peninsula Bangkok, The Peninsula Manila, The Peninsula New York, The Peninsula Chicago, The Peninsula Beverly Hills and The Peninsula Paris. With London joining this roster, the brand continues to expand its presence in major global capitals while maintaining a focus on luxury service, craftsmanship and destination-led design.
Set in Belgravia, an area celebrated for its elegant terraces, garden squares and close proximity to royal and cultural landmarks, Peninsula London aims to blend contemporary architecture with a sensitivity to the surrounding historic fabric. Hopkins Architects’ design approach typically emphasises material quality, light and proportion, all of which are likely to shape the new building’s character and public spaces.
The inclusion of high-end retail and dining options alongside extensive wellness amenities reflects current trends in luxury hotel design, where hotels act as social and cultural hubs as well as places to stay. The ballroom and public venues are intended to cater to events and gatherings, while the separate residential component offers long-term accommodation with hotel-style services.
By bringing a globally recognised luxury brand to this part of central London, the project is expected to contribute to the local hospitality landscape and offer a new destination for visitors and residents alike. The combination of Peninsula Hotels’ service standards and a considered architectural response to Belgravia’s context aims to deliver a refined addition to the West End.
