Downtown Vancouver will host a free, public New Year’s Eve celebration this year, returning a much-missed community event to the heart of the city.
The family-friendly celebration takes place at Canada Place and surrounding areas along Canada Place Way from Howe Street to Burrard Street, all within easy walking distance for visitors staying in downtown Vancouver. The program includes live music, local entertainment, a live countdown and a fireworks display. Families with younger children can join a quieter, earlier countdown beginning at 9 p.m.
“Vancouver is known throughout the world for its lively streets, vibrant community events and festivals,” said Mayor Gregor Robertson. The free New Year’s Eve community celebration will be an exciting way to kick off the year ahead. It’s encouraging to see community partners and sponsors collaborating to help Vancouver ring in the New Year with a strong lineup of local performers, live music, fireworks and family-friendly activities. The countdown is on for one of Vancouver’s most memorable New Year’s Eves yet.
Tickets are required for attendance and should be purchased online in advance of the event.
