Cobalt Air Shuts Down: What Passengers Need to Know

Cypriot airline Cobalt Air has suspended operations and cancelled all flights to and from its base at Larnaca International Airport.

The carrier, which began operations in 2016, announced the indefinite suspension in a statement posted on its website.

“Cobalt regrets to announce that it will be cancelling all flights as of 23:50 on October 17, 2018 due to indefinite suspension of Cobalt’s operations. As a result, future flights or services provided by Cobalt will be cancelled and will no longer operate,” the airline said.

The airline advised passengers holding unflown tickets not to travel to Larnaca Airport or any other departure airport on October 18, 2018, explaining that no Cobalt flights would operate and no Cobalt staff would be present.

For refunds, Cobalt instructed passengers to contact their credit card provider or travel agent.

Cobalt apologised to customers and thanked them for their support during the two years of the airline’s operations.

The suspension follows unsuccessful negotiations with potential investors that might have kept the company afloat.
