As part of the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge’s commitment to showcase local culture—and following a $45 million transformation to create an authentic borough experience inside the hotel—the property has opened a holiday pop-up shop stocked with products made in Brooklyn.
The hotel partnered with By Brooklyn, a well-known Brooklyn artisan hub, to curate a collection of crafts, specialty goods and edible treats for the pop-up shop. The selection was overseen by Gaia DiLoreto, founder and CEO of By Brooklyn.
The By Brooklyn pop-up at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge is located just outside the hotel’s newly redesigned Greatroom and is open Thursdays through Sundays through Dec. 20 to guests, nearby residents and visitors. Featured items include Landmark Holiday Ornaments by Brooklyn Rehab (about $10 each); Brooklyn-themed tea towels by Three Legged Dog and Brooklyn Bell Tower (about $18–$20); small-batch foods such as Mast Brothers chocolate, Queen Majesty hot sauce and syrups from Mixed Made (about $10–$18); and t-shirts by Gnome Enterprises (around $28).
“This year we embarked on a $45 million renovation that showcases the neighborhood’s innovators as incorporated into new design, art and menus,” said Sam Ibrahim, general manager of the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. “We are thrilled to deepen that experience by partnering with By Brooklyn so guests can take home an authentic taste of the borough.”
The hotel’s extensive renovation has already introduced a new front desk, an exclusive M Club Lounge and a refreshed Bar serving a menu that highlights local purveyors such as Brooklyn Roasting Company, Brooklyn Winery, Ovenly Bakery and McClure’s Pickles. This past fall the property unveiled a redesigned grand ballroom and flexible meeting space totaling more than 44,000 square feet. The final phase of the project will complete a full renovation of the hotel’s 667 guestrooms in 2016.
