The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Los Angeles office has introduced a new program for travelers waiting to visit: Buy Now, Stay Later: Thailand. The initiative arrives as Thailand’s restrictions on international tourism remain in place and offers a way for visitors to plan ahead and save toward future trips.
Buy Now, Stay Later allows travelers to purchase hotel bonds that grow in value over time. Functioning like a prepaid savings plan with interest, these bonds help travelers accumulate credit for a future stay in Thailand once international travel resumes for U.S. passport holders. The program is designed to give travelers flexibility and an incentive to commit now while planning a later visit.

Thailand is planning a phased reopening to international visitors, with an initial phase potentially beginning Aug. 1. That first stage is expected to focus on selected provinces such as Phuket, Krabi and Surat Thani and will be implemented with controlled, monitored procedures to guide subsequent reopening steps.
Many hotels participating in the Buy Now, Stay Later program are located in those early-phase provinces, reflecting their likelihood of reopening sooner. Travelers can find a range of participating properties, including celebrated hotels such as Banyan Tree Bangkok, The Sukhothai Bangkok, The Siam Hotel and Anantara Hua Hin Resort—each known for high-quality service and recognition within the hospitality industry.
The hotel bonds are offered in $100 increments and mature after 60 days. At the end of the maturation period, each $100 bond can be redeemed for $150 in hotel credit, giving travelers extra value ahead of their future stays. This structure makes the program both a planning tool and a modest investment in upcoming travel to Thailand.

By combining flexible timing with added value, the Buy Now, Stay Later program aims to support Thailand’s tourism sector while giving travelers a simple way to secure future accommodations at a favorable rate. Travelers interested in participating should review available properties and terms to determine which options best suit their plans once travel fully resumes.
