Lie-flat seats have become a sought-after feature on long-haul flights, and more airlines are installing them in business and first class. Singapore Airlines recently joined this trend by introducing fully flat business-class seating on its Singapore (SIN) to Brisbane (BNE) service, effective October 30.
The upgrade is part of a fleet change that replaces one Airbus A330-300 on a daily Singapore–Brisbane rotation with a Boeing 777-200ER. That aircraft offers a more spacious business-class cabin and direct aisle access for every passenger, enhancing comfort and privacy on the route.
The new seating configuration was implemented on the carrier’s daytime flight to Brisbane (SQ245) and the overnight return (SQ246) from October 30 onward. Other flights between the two cities continue to operate with A330-300 aircraft, which do not feature lie-flat seats.
Tan Tiow Kor, regional vice president at Singapore Airlines, said the airline introduced the fully flat option in response to customer demand. He noted that as newer aircraft enter the fleet, the carrier will be able to offer more choices and greater comfort for travelers across the South West Pacific.
This targeted equipment change gives frequent flyers on the SQ245/SQ246 rotation access to a true lie-flat bed and improved business-class amenities, while the rest of the schedule maintains the existing A330-300 configuration. Passengers who prioritize lie-flat seating should check individual flight equipment when booking to ensure they select the flights equipped with the Boeing 777-200ER.
