InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8 Hotel Opening This November

InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8 is a newly built luxury hotel within the Yokohama Hammer Head development, scheduled to open in November. The project includes a large cruise ship terminal and a commercial precinct, and this property marks the brand’s second InterContinental in Yokohama, joining the well-known InterContinental Yokohama Grand.

Hans Heijligers, CEO of IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan, said the opening reflects the brand’s ongoing global expansion. After celebrating its 200th hotel in 2018, InterContinental continues to introduce luxury accommodations to emerging destinations. The company is also expanding elsewhere in Japan, including the upcoming ANA InterContinental Beppu Resort & Spa, and remains committed to offering high-end travel experiences across the country.

The hotel will feature more than 170 guestrooms and a range of facilities designed for both leisure and business travelers. Multiple dining venues, event spaces, a spa and a fitness center are included to meet diverse guest needs. Public areas will include a rooftop and an indoor garden, offering places to relax and take in views of the surrounding harbor.

Azuma Umemura, president and representative director of Yokohama Grand InterContinental Co., Ltd., noted that InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8 occupies the third to fifth floors of the complex and benefits from a rare maritime setting, surrounded by water on three sides. He emphasized the hotel’s role as part of a trio of facilities—the cruise terminal, commercial area and luxury hotel—and pledged to deliver the refined hospitality the company has cultivated over 28 years to both domestic and international guests.

With its strategic location and comprehensive amenities, InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8 aims to become a new landmark in the city’s waterfront, serving visitors arriving by sea as well as those exploring Yokohama’s attractions. The combination of modern design, thoughtful public spaces and luxury services positions the hotel to attract travelers seeking an elevated stay in one of Japan’s most dynamic port cities.
