British Airways Expands Dreamliner Routes: New Destinations & Schedules

British Airways will introduce its Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the London (LHR) to Chennai (MAA) route this summer and will increase frequency from six flights a week to daily service. The Dreamliner on this route will offer 35 business class seats, 25 premium economy seats and 154 economy seats.

BA already uses the 787 on services to Newark (EWR) and Toronto (YYZ) and has plans to deploy the type on additional routes in the coming months. From March 3 the airline will operate the Dreamliner to Austin (AUS), and over the summer it will also be scheduled on flights to Hyderabad (HYD), Chengdu (CTU), Philadelphia (PHL) and Calgary (YYC). These deployments are part of a wider fleet expansion: this year British Airways will add 20 new aircraft to its network, including four more 787s and five Airbus A380 superjumbos.

The Dreamliner’s cabin configuration provides a balance of comfort and capacity across classes, supporting BA’s goal of offering frequent, modern long-haul services from London to growing markets like Chennai. Increasing the London–Chennai frequency to daily will give travelers greater flexibility and more options for connections beyond both gateways.

British Airways continues to adjust its fleet and schedules to match demand and open new opportunities across its global network, emphasizing both customer comfort and network resilience as it introduces additional 787 aircraft this year.
