Mandarin Oriental Bangkok Reopens After Major Renovation Updates

New room configurations are just one part of the comprehensive renovations at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok. Both the Authors’ and Garden Wings have been carefully restored, returning original elegance to these historic areas. Located on the Chao Phraya River and a short boat ride from the Grand Palace, the hotel is also conveniently close to the city’s skytrain and many of Bangkok’s top attractions. On-site, the wellness center and spa offer more than 40 treatments that blend traditional therapies with modern techniques.

The renovation introduced several notable new spaces, including the Grand Royal Suite in the Authors’ Wing and 12 balconied suites in the Garden Wing. The Grand Royal Suite spans 6,458 square feet and occupies the entire first floor of the Authors’ Wing. It features six bedrooms, a private elevator, a formal lounge, two living rooms, a study, and a dining room that seats 12. The suite also includes an expansive bar pantry, a fully equipped kitchen, and a Victorian-style glass conservatory, plus an original balcony that offers sweeping views of the river and the tropical gardens.

Each new split-level Garden Suite offers floor-to-ceiling windows framing river and garden views, a marble bathroom with walk-in shower, a private balcony, a dining area, a lounge and a pantry, all arranged across 861 square feet. Other enhancements include updates to Le Normandie restaurant, which continues to present an elevated French menu and now features a new wine cellar showcasing selections from both the Old and New Worlds. The refreshed interior décor highlights handcrafted chandeliers and grand, classical Asian details.

The Authors’ Lounge has been reimagined to emphasize its 19th-century heritage, extending out to a riverside terrace and landscaped gardens. Four intimate salons are named in honor of past literary guests—Joseph Conrad, Somerset Maugham, James Michener and Noël Coward—each reflecting the hotel’s storied cultural legacy while providing elegant spaces for relaxation and socializing.
