Emirates Expands Routes and Services Across Eastern Europe

Dubai-based Emirates announced plans to expand its presence in Eastern Europe by launching new daily services between Dubai (DXB) and Kyiv Boryspil International Airport (KBP) in Kyiv, Ukraine, starting January 16, 2014. The route will be operated with Airbus A340-500 aircraft configured with 12 first-class suites, 42 business-class seats, and 204 economy seats.

Emirates cited strong potential in Ukraine’s agribusiness, heavy machinery, technology sectors, and tourism market as reasons for the expansion. Hubert Frach, divisional senior vice president of commercial operations west for Emirates, noted that Dubai is expected to become a convenient gateway for Ukrainian travelers, supporting business connections and offering leisure travelers a wide range of accommodation and entertainment options.

With the addition of Kyiv, Emirates will increase its European network to 35 passenger destinations.
