Etihad and Alitalia Expand Codeshare Partnership for More Routes

Etihad Airways and Alitalia have expanded their codeshare partnership to give travelers more convenient options. As part of the new agreement, Etihad will place its flight code on Alitalia services between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Milan (MXP) as well as Venice (VCE). Alitalia intends to launch both daily routes on March 29, 2015.

This codeshare expansion follows the European Union’s approval of Etihad’s proposed acquisition of a 49 percent stake in Alitalia. The airlines expect to complete the transaction by the end of the year. The carriers already share codes on flights between Abu Dhabi and Rome (FCO), and Etihad plans to extend its code to 15 of Alitalia’s routes from Rome next year, subject to government approval.
