United Ends Los Angeles to Singapore Nonstop Service

United Airlines will discontinue its Los Angeles (LAX)–Singapore (SIN) nonstop route and replace it with a second daily San Francisco (SFO)–Singapore service. Launched in October 2017, the LAX–SIN flight was the longest nonstop route to or from the United States and the longest route operated by a Dreamliner. After one year of operation, the service will end on Oct. 27.

The airline will redeploy the Dreamliner on the additional San Francisco–Singapore rotation. United says the schedule change responds to customer feedback asking for greater variety in departure and arrival times. By shifting to two daily SFO–SIN flights, the carrier aims to offer more convenient travel options for passengers between the United States and Singapore.

United explained that the new San Francisco–Singapore frequency provides improved timing for many travelers: a morning departure from San Francisco with an evening arrival in Singapore, and an evening departure from Singapore with an evening arrival in San Francisco. These schedule choices are intended to better align with customer preferences and to enhance connectivity across the carrier’s network.

Beyond offering more schedule choices, United notes the second SFO–SIN flight will leverage the airline’s strong morning bank at San Francisco International and create nearly 20 new one-stop connections from points across North America. The additional service will also expand access for Singapore travelers, connecting them to almost 80 cities throughout the United States, including Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Dallas.

The move reflects United’s efforts to match capacity and timing to passenger demand while strengthening its transpacific network. Passengers booked on the LAX–SIN service should check United’s communications for rebooking options and updated schedules as the transition to the two daily SFO–SIN flights takes effect later this year.
