Lufthansa Ends Frankfurt to Pune Flights — What Travelers Need to Know

Lufthansa has suspended its direct flights between Frankfurt (FRA) and Pune (PNQ) in western India, leaving Pune without any non-stop connections to Europe.

The daily service had been operated by Privatair using a Boeing 737-700 configured with 66 economy and 20 business-class seats.

The route is suspended until Oct. 27. A Lufthansa spokesperson said the carrier “has decided to suspend its cooperation with one of its wet lease partners until the end of the summer schedule due to operational and commercial reasons.”

According to the airline, the last scheduled departure from Pune took place on June 29. Lufthansa and the former wet-lease partner are evaluating options to resume cooperation as soon as possible. The airline said it regrets the decision and has rebooked passengers who were already booked on the service.

Service on the Frankfurt–Pune route originally began in 2008. The suspension highlights the vulnerability of long-haul regional links that rely on wet-lease arrangements, and it temporarily removes a direct Europe connection for travelers and businesses in Pune.

Until the route resumes, passengers traveling between Pune and Europe will need to use connecting flights via other Indian hubs or other European gateways. Travelers affected by the suspension should check their reservation status with Lufthansa for rebooking options and any applicable assistance or refunds.
