La Compagnie, the all-business-class carrier, has suspended its London–New York service effective Sept. 25, citing uncertainty following the United Kingdom’s Brexit vote in June. The airline said it will reallocate capacity to operate a second daily flight between Paris Orly (ORY) and New York Newark (EWR) beginning this month.
Frantz Yvelin, founder and CEO of La Compagnie, explained the decision as a response to “an unprecedented level of legal and economic uncertainty for airlines serving the region.” He told Travel Weekly that this uncertainty prompted the carrier to concentrate on expanding its Paris–New York operations. Yvelin added that the airline will reassess opportunities in London and other U.K. cities once the implications of Brexit become clearer.
Yvelin also stressed that the move represents a suspension, not a permanent cancellation, of the London–New York route and reaffirmed La Compagnie’s confidence in the U.K.’s strategic market value.
Passengers who had bookings on the discontinued London–New York service will be offered full refunds or the option to rebook on the Paris–New York route at no extra charge.
