The perfect place to begin exploring is Dupont Circle, a neighborhood long popular with the LGBTQ community. Dupont Circle offers an inviting mix of bars, restaurants and independent shops within easy walking distance. Those who want to dance will find several standout options. Town is one of the city’s largest gay clubs, featuring weekday happy hours, weekend drag performances and well-known DJs. Ziegfeld’s/Secrets attracts crowds across the gender spectrum; its two-level format stages drag shows on the ground floor and male dancers on the upper level.

Visitors will find many gay-friendly hotels across the city. Popular choices include the Embassy Row Hotel, located in the heart of Dupont Circle; the historic Mayflower, part of the Autograph Collection; and the Park Hyatt Washington, which hosts culinary and wine events and offers bicycle valet service for guests who want to explore the city on two wheels.

Each June, thousands visit D.C. for Capital Pride, the city’s signature LGBTQ celebration featuring a parade, street festival and numerous parties and community events. The festival draws locals and visitors alike and highlights the city’s inclusive spirit.
