Since opening in 1917, Hyatt Carmel Highlands, perched above the Pacific Ocean, has been a premier luxury destination in the region. As the property approaches its centennial, it is undergoing a thoughtful series of upgrades to guestrooms, the bar, the lobby and its award-winning restaurant, Pacific’s Edge, to enhance the guest experience while preserving the hotel’s historic charm.
Renovations will begin with Pacific’s Edge. The restaurant will receive refreshed interior décor and a new 1,200-square-foot, 40-seat heated patio to allow year-round al fresco dining with ocean views. Pacific’s Edge and the hotel’s more casual California Market will be combined into a single dining venue that blends signature dishes and popular offerings from both menus. The wine list will be expanded to feature more regional producers, highlighting local Monterey Peninsula and Central Coast vintners. These dining updates are scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2016.
The hotel’s 48 guestrooms and 10 suites will be updated with new furnishings and décor that reflect the property’s coastal setting, alongside upgraded climate-control systems for greater guest comfort. In the bar, the Sunset Lounge will be reconfigured to better showcase sweeping views of the Pacific coastline, creating a more inviting environment for cocktails and sunset viewing. The lobby will also be redesigned and refurnished to accommodate private events for up to 100 guests, offering flexible and elegant space for receptions, meetings and celebrations.
Throughout the renovation process, the goal is to balance modern amenities and thoughtful design with the Highlands Inn’s storied character and natural surroundings. By integrating local culinary and wine offerings, enhancing indoor-outdoor dining, and refreshing guest accommodations and public spaces, the Hyatt Carmel Highlands aims to deliver a refreshed, cohesive experience that honors its history while meeting contemporary expectations.
