Elements by Oberoi: A New Luxury Collection from The Oberoi Group

The Oberoi Group has formalized a long-term sustainability strategy with the launch of Elements by Oberoi, an integrated environmental and social responsibility framework designed to guide the company’s growth and operations.

“We have always believed that excellence must be enduring. As we grow and expand our footprint, sustainability is not just a value—it is a way of life that shapes how we build, serve, and lead,” said Arjun Oberoi, executive chairman of The Oberoi Group. “With Elements by Oberoi, we reaffirm our commitment to responsible growth, where every decision is made with care for our planet and our communities.”

The framework centers on the life-sustaining elements of earth, water and air, with targeted actions under each pillar to minimize environmental impact while enhancing guest experience and community well‑being.

Earth

Design and operations emphasize harmony with local ecosystems. Oberoi properties are incorporating low-impact architecture, reducing waste through eco-friendly amenities and material reuse, and eliminating single-use plastic water bottles across all hotels and resorts.

Water

Protecting water resources is a core priority. The group is implementing advanced rainwater harvesting, efficient treatment and reuse systems such as zero liquid discharge, and sustainable laundry and irrigation practices to lower freshwater demand and conserve supply.

Air

Reducing carbon emissions is addressed through energy transition and operational improvements. Initiatives include increased use of solar and wind power, installation of air purification and smart energy systems, development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and electrification of on-site thermal equipment where feasible.

“True luxury is defined by the care with which we serve our guest and equally demonstrate through our actions towards people, the community and our planet,” said Vikram Oberoi, chief executive officer of The Oberoi Group. “With Elements by Oberoi, sustainability is seamlessly embedded into the guest journey and in how we engage with people, the communities around us and our precious environment. Our commitment is to creating experiences that are both meaningful and mindful.”

Elements by Oberoi sets measurable targets for the coming years to ensure accountable progress. By 2030, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts intends to:

  • Recycle 100 percent of wastewater and reduce fresh water consumption per occupied room by 20 percent
  • Source 50 percent of its electricity from renewable energy
  • Transition transport fleets to fully electric vehicles
  • Phase out fossil fuel–based thermal systems in favor of electric alternatives for all new hotels and progressively replace such equipment at existing properties

These objectives are paired with operational changes and investments across construction, procurement and guest services so that sustainability is woven into every stage of the guest experience and into the company’s relationship with staff and local communities. The approach balances environmental stewardship with the high level of service The Oberoi Group is known for, aiming to preserve natural and cultural assets while delivering authentic, responsible luxury.
