Arrival/Check-In: Arriving at The London NYC on a clear spring day, I found a compact, ultra-modern lobby and experienced a warm, efficient welcome. Check-in was swift and staff promptly escorted me to my suite.
Guest Quarters: Stepping into the suite, I was immediately impressed by the space and design. At over 500 square feet, the room felt more spacious than many city apartments. A refined palette of blues and browns is layered across varied textures and materials, and careful attention to detail is evident in furniture choices, wallpaper and bathrobes.
The suite features a large, open floor plan with a wall of windows that fills the space with light. A kidney-shaped sofa and glass table are thoughtfully positioned to enjoy the view. A contemporary wooden desk and ergonomic chair make for an efficient work area, with convenient access to outlets and reliable high-speed wireless internet.
Beyond the main living area, the bedroom houses a generously sized, luxurious bed dressed in Filli d’Oro Italian linens and a walk-in closet that connects to the bathroom. The bathroom, a highlight of the room, was created in collaboration with Waterworks and showcases hand-cut glass tiles, a marble sink and modern metal fixtures.
Services/Amenities: Location is one of The London’s strongest assets. The hotel sits within easy walking distance of Central Park, Fifth Avenue shopping and Times Square, making it an excellent base for exploring Manhattan.
Dining options within the hotel include two restaurants by Chef Gordon Ramsay. Gordon Ramsay at The London offers contemporary French cuisine in an intimate setting, while Maze by Gordon Ramsay presents a more casual menu of small plates blending French technique with Asian influences. The London Bar provides an evening selection of wines and small bites and hosts a traditional English tea service in the afternoon.
The Experience: My stay at The London NYC was thoroughly enjoyable. The interior design, led by David Collins, creates a calm, sophisticated oasis amid the city’s energy. Attentive service, thoughtful amenities and the hotel’s prime location make it a property worth returning to.
