Title: General Manager
Company, city: The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong
Number of employees: 570
Recent project: Daily operations at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong
First job: My first role in hospitality was as an apprentice server at age 16.
Little-known fact about you: I have trained in a variety of martial and energy arts, including karate (I once broke my hands twice while training), silat (an Indonesian discipline), tai chi, reiki and some practices from the Universal Tao System such as healing sounds, qi gong and healing love. I also focus on healthy eating and regular exercise—I can do 100 push-ups in three minutes.
Your Business
Essential business philosophy: Treat your team with respect and dignity and care for them as you would family. Extend that same warmth to guests: welcome them as you would loved ones and strive to make their stay memorable.
Best way to keep a competitive edge: We focus on delivering personalized experiences that create lasting memories. By anticipating needs and adding thoughtful, human touches, we aim to connect emotionally with guests and stand out in a competitive market.
Yardstick of success: Success for me is measured by guest feedback—receiving handwritten thank-you notes, online reviews praising our ladies and gentlemen, or personal mentions of a team member’s exceptional service. Those responses confirm we are doing things right.

Tell our readers about the hotel’s guestrooms.
Our guest rooms, located from floors 105 to 117, offer a unique sense of elevation and perspective. The view from these rooms is akin to looking down from an airplane window—an expansive panorama of Hong Kong and Victoria Harbour that brings the city into sharp focus while you remain in complete comfort.
What’s on the horizon for the property in 2015? Are any special events or programs planned for the hotel in the next year?
We have plans to introduce an intimate, highly exclusive dining concept on the 118th floor: an 18-seat counter that will offer panoramic views of Victoria Harbour alongside a refined culinary experience. This concept aims to provide one of the most private and memorable dining experiences available in the city.
