Etihad Airways has updated its baggage policy to align with the carrier’s new Fare Choices pricing structure. Effective Sept. 14, the revisions aim to better meet individual traveler needs while simplifying how customers understand and pay for baggage.
“In line with industry best practice, we are moving to a fair and transparent baggage concept,” said Peter Baumgartner, chief commercial officer, Etihad Airways. “Our new Fare Choices are an easier way for guests to understand what they are paying for, offering clearer pricing and the flexibility which best suits their travel plans. This also applies to their baggage requirements.”
Under the revised policy, passengers can carry one, two or three bags based on the Fare Choice they select, the route they are flying and their Etihad Guest membership level. Many fares now incur lower excess baggage charges, while Etihad Guest members at higher tiers receive additional benefits such as an extra bag or increased weight allowance on eligible routes.
The changes are intended to provide clearer options and more transparent pricing so travelers can choose the combination of fare and baggage allowance that best fits their trip. By linking allowances to Fare Choices and loyalty status, Etihad seeks to reward frequent flyers and make baggage costs easier to predict.
